Murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) M57 gene region encodes for a 131-kDa M57 protein considered the MCMV major single-stranded DNA binding protein (Kattenhorn et al., 2004, Journal of Virology, 78(20), 11187–97). The M57 gene region lies in the area of origin of lytic replication (oriLyt) of MCMV and M57 protein is a part of the cluster required to initiate and perform viral DNA synthesis (Rawlinson et al., 1996, Journal of Virology, 70(10), 8833–8849). Its human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) counterpart is UL57. Our anti-M57 antibody M57.02 (described in Lenac Rovis, Kucan Brlic et al, J Exp Med 2016 Aug 22;213(9):1835-50) works in IF (on MCMV infected cells), intracellular FACS (on MCMV infected cells) and each LOT is validated for Western blot (of MCMV infected cell lysates).
