SARS-CoV-2 nsp7 is a small protein (83aa) involved in the replication and transcription of the viral RNA. It forms a complex with nsp8 which acts as a primase for the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), nsp12. Nsp7/nsp8 complex is critical for viral polymerase activity. Nsp7 also interacts with nsp5, nsp9, and nsp13 including various host proteins involved in membrane trafficking, signaling, and transport.
