The monoclonal antibody VZV61.02 recognizes VZV ORF61.
ORF61 encodes immediate-early nuclear phosphoprotein that is a homolog of HSV-1 protein ICP0. The protein functions as a promiscuous transactivator of viral and cellular promoters and enhances the infectivity of VZV DNA (J Virol (1993) 67, 4290-95). It contains a conserved zinc RING finger domain in its N-terminal region, which is essential for its transactivating activity (J med virol (2003) 70, S79– S81). Although ORF61 is dispensable for viral replication in vitro, its deletion results in significant growth defect (Virology (1998) 246, 306-16).
Our anti-ORF61 antibody has been validated in immunofluorescence.
