VZV ORF54 assembles as a dodecamer and has a role in DNA packaging (UniProtKB – Q6QCK2). Its HSV-1 homolog is UL6. Visalli et al showed that the VZV ORF54 is essential for cleavage and packaging of viral DNA (J. Virol. July 2014 vol. 88 no. 14 7973-7986). They used polyclonal ORF54 C terminus-specific rabbit sera generated against the peptide. Only rabbit sera was available to analyse the ORF54 before we generated VZV mAbeom. The ORF54 monomer has calculated molecular weight of 87 kDa and our monoclonal antibody VZ 54.08 showed a doublet band at around 90 kDa in western blot. Our anti-VZV ORF54 antibody VZ 54.08 works in ELISA (on immunogen) and each LOT is validated for Western blot (of VZV infected cell lysates, described in J Virol. 2013 Jun;87(12):6943-54.).

Open reading frame 37 (ORF37) of Varicella zoster encodes for envelope glycoprotein H (gH). VZV gH is a 118kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein highly conserved among other alphaherpesviruses.
VZV ORF4 encodes an IE4 protein that acts as transactivator of several immediate early, early and late VZV genes. Dimerization of IE4 is required for its transactivation function.
VZV ORF19 encodes a large, N-terminal subunit 1 of the viral ribonucleotide reductase, which together with the small subunit, encoded by the VZV ORF 18, forms the ribonucleotide reductase holoenzyme complex (RNR).
