VZV ORF27 encodes a nuclear egress lamina protein, that together with the nuclear egress membrane protein encoded by the product of VZV ORF27, most likely plays a role in the egress of assembled viral capsids from the nuclei of VZV infected cells to the cytoplasm. VZV ORF27 protein localizes to nuclei of VZV infected cells and our anti-VZV ORF27 antibody VZ 27.01 works in ELISA (on immunogen), in some IF assays, and each LOT is validated for Western blot (of VZV infected cell lysates) where it recognizes a protein species of ~35 kDa, which corresponds well to the predicted size of the protein encoded by the VZV ORF27 (described in J Virol. 2013 Jun;87(12):6943-54.).
