The monoclonal antibody VZ 16.06 recognizes VZV ORF16.
ORF16 is one of the two subunits of VZV DNA polymerase (Nature Reviews Microbiology 12, 197–210 (2014)). The VZV ORF16 (UniProtKB – Q6QCN9) has a HSV-1 ortholog UL42. The predicted molecular weight of VZV ORF16 is 46 kDa and our monoclonal antibody shows a band around 50 kDa in Western blot as well as confirms its dominant nuclear localisation which is in line with its role in DNA replication.
Our anti-ORF16 antibody has been validated in ELISA (on immunogen), IF (VZV infected cells) and in WB (VZV infected cell lysates) as described in J Virol. 2013 Jun;87(12):6943-54.
