The VZV DNA polymerase has two subunits, ORF16 and ORF28 (Nature Reviews Microbiology 12, 197–210 (2014)). The VZV ORF16 (UniProtKB – Q6QCN9) has a HSV-1 ortholog UL42. Only rabbit sera was available to analyse ORF16 before we generated VZV mAbeom. The calculated molecular weight of VZV ORF16 is 46 kDa and our monoclonal antibody VZ 16.06 showed a band around 50 kDa in western blot. In line with the role of VZV ORF16 in DNA replication, our monoclonal antibody VZ 16.06 confirms its dominant nuclear localisation. Our anti-VZV ORF16 antibody VZ 16.06 works in ELISA (on immunogen), IF (on VZV infected cells) and each LOT is validated for Western blot (of VZV infected cell lysates, described in J Virol. 2013 Jun;87(12):6943-54.).
