The monoclonal antibody clone mumps.08 recognizes nucleoprotein of the L-Zagreb mumps virus vaccine strain.

Nucleoprotein is the most abundant virus protein with primary function to pack viral RNA genome into nucleocapsid, which makes it essential for transcription and replication as only RNA encapsidated by N protein can function as a template for viral RNA synthesis (Ivančić J et al. Virus Res 2005;109:95). It is a non-glycosylated protein with molecular mass of 61 kDa. The antibody was generated using inactivated L-Zagreb mumps virus vaccine strain (Ivančić-Jelečki J et al. Infect Genet Evol 2008;8:603) as an immunogen and was developed in frame of grant “Strengthening the capacity of CerVirVac for research in virus immunology and vaccinology“, KK.01.1.1.01.0006, awarded to the Scientific Centre of Excellence for Virus Immunology and Vaccines and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Our anti-Mumps nucleoprotein antibody, clone mumps.08 has been validated in WB on Mumps infected Vero cells.
